Uncle Bryan's surf school has built a solid reputation with instructors who genuinely know their stuff. Names like James, Fernando, Mitch, and Nikoa come up repeatedly, with students praising their patience, clear teaching style, and ability to make beginners feel confident in the water. The two-hour lesson format (longer than many competitors) gives you real time to practice and progress. Parents especially love how the instructors connect with kids, and the communication before your lesson is consistently described as helpful and accommodating. Most students walk away stoked, catching waves and already planning their next session. The instructors break down surfing into simple steps on the beach before heading out, then provide hands-on support in the water. One reviewer noted that larger group classes can feel less personalized, with minimal individual feedback once you're out surfing, and the photographer may not capture everyone's best moments. If you want more attention, private lessons seem to be the way to go. The overwhelming majority of visitors had fantastic experiences though, with many saying they'd return or specifically requesting the same instructor for future sessions.
Wow! We’ve been all over the island a few times, including having lived here, and this is the place you want to take lessons. Their instructors are the best, and the session is 2 hours instead of 1; which gives that little bit of extra time to get your feet under you.
