Founded in 2012 by hospitality veterans Bradner and Maria Lawrence, Tucson Food Tours is the city’s original walking culinary adventure. Their friendly, small-group outings wind through downtown, 4th Avenue, Main Gate Square, and ...
Tucson's food scene comes alive through this locally-owned tour company, led primarily by knowledgeable guides Chris, Karen, and owner Brad. What sets them apart is how seamlessly they weave local history and culture into the culinary experience. Reviewers consistently mention learning about Tucson's past while sampling everything from tacos at La Chingada to tamales at El Charro Café, with guides pointing out murals and historical sites along the way. The typical tour hits seven restaurants over about four hours, with food selections that push people beyond their usual choices in the best way possible. The guides clearly have strong relationships with restaurant owners and know exactly what to order at each stop. Chris gets particular praise for being charismatic and knowledgeable (his beard apparently deserves its own review), while Karen stands out for making even rainy-day tours memorable and bringing genuine enthusiasm to every experience. Groups of all sizes seem to have equally great experiences, and the flexible approach accommodates dietary requirements without missing a beat. If you want an authentic introduction to Tucson's food culture with someone who genuinely loves their hometown, this tour delivers.
Thanks to Chris for a fun food tour and lots of information about Tuscon. In addition to some great food he mixed history with modern, with trivia and more! Update: We went back to the hub and it was a disappointment— pastrami sandwich had not as much meat as food tour and waiter gave my husband the incorrect sandwich bun. Waiter did not correct the error
