Wild horse tours don't get much better than this. Guides like Tyler, Jason, Tom, Rick, and Shorty consistently earn praise for their deep knowledge of the horses, local history, and the Outer Banks area. They know where to find the wild horses and give guests plenty of unhurried time to observe and photograph these beautiful animals in multiple locations. The HMMWV vehicles add an adventurous touch to the experience, and thoughtful extras like blankets on chilly days show the team's attention to guest comfort. The late afternoon tours get special mentions for stunning sunset views along the beach. Guests regularly spot numerous horses, including adorable foals, throughout rural beach neighborhoods and natural areas. What really stands out is how the guides balance finding wildlife with sharing fascinating details about the horses' history and behavior, making this much more than just a sightseeing trip. There's a gift shop at the meeting point for snacks and drinks before departure. This tour consistently delivers memorable encounters with the wild horses while providing genuine insight into this unique coastal ecosystem.
I came here for as a part of my birthday weekend with my friends and it did not disappoint! Because the weather was bipolar we did not see many horses on the beach (I’ll be back in the summer) but our tour guide Jason did an excellent job describing the history of the area and was able to show us a few horses who had been hiding in people’s yards. Jason also pointed out an eagle’s nest (pictured) and an osprey’s nest. In addition, as it was my birthday weekend Jason also gave me a shell that he had found on the beach! The sweetest surprise to round out a great experience.
