Itinerary

1. Arrive at East Portal trailhead 30 minutes before departure — 8:00am for the 8:30am ride, 12:30pm for the 1:00pm ride
2. Safety briefing and bike fit (approx. 20–30 minutes)
3. Ride begins — enter the Taft Tunnel, 1.66 miles through the mountain
4. Ride at your own pace across 7 trestles and through 10 tunnels with Bitterroot Mountain views
5. Turn around whenever you're ready — most riders cover 10–15 miles out
6. Return to East Portal — we collect the bikes, your day is done

Important details

• Arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled departure
• Ages 16+ only; riders under 18 require a parent or guardian signature
• Bring a valid driver's license or government-issued ID

• Weight limit: 400 lbs
• Requires independently mounting, balancing, steering, and riding a standard bicycle
• A signed waiver is required
• This rental is out-and-back from East Portal only; e-bikes cannot be transported on the Hiawatha shuttle
• Expect packed gravel and dirt that may be uneven; weather and trail conditions may vary
• Trail access is seasonal from late spring through fall, 8:30am–5:00pm
