6-Mile Rail Bike Tour in Traverse City

We just went this weekend, Oct 17. It ended up being a perfect FALL day; sunny & brisk, but we were bundled up well. My husband & I brought family with us to celebrate their anniversary, they are in their 80's. We all had a wonderful time on the rails, and the colors on the trees were absolutely beautiful! The only recommendations we have, would be to have the person giving the history of the rails to use the megaphone. Since we were all standing in a group off the tracks while they switched the carts around, some people kept talking, making it difficult to hear what she was saying. Plus her voice was a bit quiet. My husband & I heard small parts of what she was saying, but our family members could not hear anything. They both enjoy learning the history of places, so that was a bit difficult. The only other thing was that when I booked our trip, I paid for the assist on our cart, as I thought with two family members in their 80's & me with an autoimmune disorder & joint issues, I didn't know what to expect or how we would do having to pedal. So this way I thought we would be able to depend on the assist to help if needed, and not make my husband do all the work. But when we checked in, we were informed that they overbooked the assist carts, so ours would not have one. Yet during the instructions prior to riding, she announced that for those that had a black box on their cart & didn't pay for it, that was an assist, and someone would be coming around showing them how to use it. So that was a bit disheartening to hear. We all managed fine on the ride. It was a bit difficult on the way back as it's up hill a bit, but we just kept switching off who was peddling, even though it slowed us way down from the carts in front of us. We still had a great time overall, and plan to do it again next year.
