Train ride, River crossing
Climb aboard an autumn train excursion in Walkersville, Maryland, and make time before departure to explore the railroad's buildings and grounds.
All Aboard! Enjoy a ride through the woods, and then out into picturesque Maryland farm country past Barricks Farm, established in the early 1820’s. On a clear day you can view the Catoctin Mountains west of Frederick. Before returning to the Walkersville Station you will cross the beautiful Monocacy River on the recently reconstructed railroad bridge. The view is impressive and will be the highlight of your trip. The ride is leisurely, with speeds limited to ten miles per hour.
No refunds. Cancel Coach or Parlor Car tickets at least 24 hours before departure for credit minus the handling fee. Caboose cancellations require at least 7 days' notice for the same credit. No credit for later cancellations. Credits expire one year after issue and apply to any future railroad event. Rides run rain or shine.

Use the portable toilets near the museum, across the street from the station. Most train cars have no restroom. The Southampton parlor car has one small restroom, generally available only to parlor car passengers.
Yes, parking is free in the grassy lot next to the station. Follow the train parking signs. If that lot is full, use the additional gravel parking across the street and behind the brick museum building.
Enclosed passenger cars and cabooses are heated in colder weather. Only the Southampton parlor car has air conditioning.
