    Explore Bear Trap Canyon on the Madison River, a designated Wilderness Area accessible only by foot or boat. Guides row oar boats, so you can take in rapids, calm stretches, and canyon scenery without paddling.

    • Ride Class III rapids before reaching the technical Class IV Kitchen Sink
    • Relax on mellow river stretches and stop at swimming holes
    • Watch canyon cliffs for eagles, mountain sheep, goats, bears, or moose
    • Enjoy a riverside lunch beside the rapids

    • River gear on request, including wetsuits, fleece tops, and splash jackets

    Know before you go

    • Arrive between 9:15 and 9:30 AM
    • Ages 8+ only
    • Children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult age 18 or older
    • Requires reasonably good physical condition, basic mobility, and the ability to hike a quarter mile on an unmaintained trail
    • Requires the ability to follow guide directions
    • Personal flotation devices fit chests up to 56 inches
    • Pregnant people cannot participate
    • Ages 15 and under must walk around the Kitchen Sink; ages 16+ may run it
    • Guides may require a walk-around of the Kitchen Sink based on water levels
    • Sign a liability waiver before participating
    • Wear quick-drying, non-cotton clothing; jeans, sweat suits, and heavy cotton are not suitable
    • Trips run rain or shine
    • Allergies and dietary restrictions must be communicated at least three days before departure

    Cancellation Policy

    Free cancellation with 48+ hours' notice. Cancellations 24–48 hours before departure are charged 50%; within 24 hours and no-shows are charged 100%.
