Instruction, sailboat, safety gear
Step aboard for a hands-on introduction to sailing led by a U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain. Learn through practical instruction on the water, rather than simply coming along for the ride.
1. Pre-Boarding & Terms: Meet your instructor, complete safety orientations, and get familiar with basic sailing terminology.
2. Setting Sail: Depart the dock into Buttonwood Sound and learn how to read wind directions.
3. Taking the Helm: Take the tiller to practice steering a course, trimming sails, tacking, and gybing.
4. Safety & Recovery Drill: Walk through key safety protocols, including a breakdown of man-overboard and docking maneuvers.
5. Return to Harbor: Sail back to the Key Lime Sailing Club grounds for a final debrief with your captain.
