Paddle and swim in Mosquito Bay with Vieques local guides
Boat transfer, kayak gear, snacks
Join Vieques locals for a guided kayak and swim in Mosquito Bay. Crew-led briefings and provided gear help you prepare for paddling after dark.
Arrive at Marina Puerto Chico in Fajardo by 4:30 pm. After check-in, we’ll depart on a scenic one-hour boat ride to Vieques Island, enjoying the Caribbean breeze along the way while the crew serves fresh snacks and local drinks. Upon arrival, our local partner, will greet you and guide you to the transportation that takes you to El Malecón de Esperanza, located on the southern coast of Vieques. Here, you'll have approximately one hour of free time—before or after your Bio Bay paddle—to explore the area’s charming restaurants, local bars, and beachfront views.
Experience a breathtaking night time paddle of approximately one hour in Mosquito Bay, the brightest bioluminescent bay in the world. Stroke your paddle and watch the water glow with each movement—an awe-inspiring natural phenomenon found in only a handful of places on Earth. This unforgettable Vieques bioluminescent bay experience is often described as one of the most magical activities to do in Puerto Rico.
After the trip, return back to the dock with Snorkeling Puerto Rico for a return trip back to Fajardo.
Book your Vieques Bio Bay tour with us and enjoy the perfect mix of relaxation, sight seeing and an exciting water activity!

Step into the water after dark at Bahía Bioluminiscente and watch every ripple ignite in electric blue-green light. Microscopic dinoflagellates pack this sheltered Vieques bay in concentrations found almost nowhere else on earth, turning each stroke of a paddle into a trail of cold fire. Bahía Bioluminiscente is at its most breathtaking on moonless nights, when the surrounding mangroves block ambient light and the glow of the water seems almost unreal. It is a natural spectacle that stays with you long after you leave the island.
I didn't take many pictures as my family did most of that. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Snorkeling Puerto Rico. This trip was put together by my daughter and son-in-law. There were 6 in our group, includng my husband, son and his wife. I did not go to snorkel, but to enjoy the ride and being out on the beautiful blue waters. I did however, put on a banana float and get into the water, albeit holding onto a rope or the ladder. The crew was top notch, informative and so much fun! All these young people should be commended for their sea going knowledge. Lunch was provided including fresh fruit, tuna salad, macaroni salad, regular salad and fresh Puerto Rican bread. They even had peanut butter and jelly. The icing on the cake was the delicious authentic Pina Colada rum drinks. I would definitely do this trip again alongside family. Kudos to Snorkeling PR for a job well done!
