Know before you go
- Arrive at least 30 minutes early for paperwork and a safety overview
- Bring a valid photo ID for check-in
- Complete liability waivers before arrival
- Rental contracts require an adult age 18 or older; a parent or legal guardian must complete minor waivers
- Children ages 3–15 require an adult chaperone; ages 16+ may paddle without one with a parent or legal guardian waiver
- Wear a life jacket while on the water
- Single kayaks have a 250 lb weight limit; tandem kayaks have a 475 lb limit
- Single paddleboards have a 350 lb weight limit; tandem paddleboards have a 485 lb limit
- Large parties must carpool due to limited marina parking
- Wind and lightning safety procedures may delay or prevent launching
- Charges for lost or damaged property apply and are not included in the listed price

Cancellations require at least 24 hours' notice. No refunds.
FAQs
Bring water, sun protection, season-appropriate quick-dry clothing, and a waterproof phone case or dry bag. Wear secure water shoes or sandals with heel straps.
Check the weather before your rental. Wind and lightning safety procedures may delay or prevent launching; weather-related delays receive a rain check as store credit. No refunds are issued for weather conditions.
Carpool with your group. If someone bringing personal equipment does not carpool, they must park and launch from Boulder Recreation Site and meet you on the water. Personal equipment must be launched from the shoreline behind the Dolly Steamboat office without staff assistance.
