Cape May Historic Afternoon Sail

Step aboard the 115-foot A.J. Meerwald, a 1928 oyster schooner, for an afternoon sailing experience on Delaware Bay. Relax under sail or join the crew for hands-on work aboard this historic vessel.

• Help haul lines and set sails with the crew
• Listen to stories of the schooner and regional oystering traditions
• Relax on deck and take in views of Delaware Bay
• Bring your own food, snacks, and beverages, including beer and wine

Know before you go

• Arrive 30–45 minutes before departure and check in inside the ferry terminal
• Walk to the dock as a group with a crew escort about 15 minutes before departure
• Ages 5–17 must be accompanied by an adult
• Requires navigating 2–4 boarding steps; the dock route may include steep gangways and wheelchair or walker access is not available
• Service animals only; pets and comfort animals are not permitted
• Leave strollers behind and do not smoke onboard
• Keep beverage containers closed while boarding and take all belongings with you when you leave
• Use terminal restrooms before boarding; the onboard restroom is for emergencies only and requires descending a ladder
