Alaska
Dan and Sarah have built something special here on the Kenai River. Guests rave about the immaculate cabins with full kitchens and all the gear you could need, from waders to fishing rods to processing facilities on-site. The property itself gets high marks for its prime location right on the river, where moose and eagles are regular visitors and you can fish from the docks. Sarah especially earns consistent praise for being an exceptional host who goes above and beyond, teaching guests to clean and fillet their catch, arranging fishing charters, and making everyone feel like family. The fishing operation runs both ocean charters out of Homer and Seward plus river trips for salmon, and guests consistently report hitting their limits with knowledgeable captains and crew. What stands out is how many reviewers become repeat visitors, booking their next trip before they even leave. People genuinely appreciate the attention to detail, from the stocked community fridge to the smoker and grills available for use. This is clearly a well-run operation where hosts have thought through every aspect of an Alaska fishing experience.
Big Dan's was awesome. Stayed at the lodge and spent a day out halibut fishing. Can't recall name of the boat but it is 🤯. Recommended for anyone interested in fishing the Kenai or staying in soldatna. Dan and his wife, who's name escapes me, are terrific. Cabins are very well equipped and clean. You can't go wrong.
