Explore the Providence River on a 50-minute narrated boat tour with city views and storytelling from your Captain. It’s a relaxed way to spend time together in downtown Providence.
Boats are not wheelchair accessible and you must be able to step over the side rail to board. There is no bathroom on the boat, and only service animals are allowed. Children under 13 must wear a USCG-approved personal flotation device while underway.
All reservations are non-refundable. Reschedules are allowed only with 72 hours advance notice and are subject to availability. Weather cancellations are decided by management; if they cancel due to inclement weather, you may reschedule or receive a full refund.
Arrive at least 15 minutes before departure. The boat leaves exactly on time and can’t wait for late passengers. If you don’t arrive 15 minutes early, your seats may be offered to stand-by patrons and you forfeit your paid reservation.
No. Use the restroom inside The Landing before boarding; arrive at least 20 minutes early if you’ll need time.
You can bring a beverage or ice cream from The Landing to enjoy during your tour. The Landing also sells beer, wine, hard seltzers, and other alcoholic beverages you can bring aboard. Bringing your own drinks is not permitted.

Providence's riverboat tours have built a loyal following, and it's easy to see why. Captains like Tom and Bob bring genuine knowledge and personality to every cruise, weaving city history, local lore, and humor into tours that even longtime Providence residents find rewarding. The Haunted Boat Tour is a standout, with storyteller Kelly earning repeated praise for her theatrical, engaging style. The lineup goes well beyond ghost stories, with mimosa cruises, scenic evening rides, and more rounding out the calendar. Last-minute bookings have worked smoothly for some guests, and the check-in area includes a small cafe and snacks to get you settled before departure. A note worth mentioning: at least one visitor found communication around private cruise inquiries slow and frustrating, so if you're planning something custom, build in extra lead time. Overall, the vibe is relaxed, fun, and genuinely informative. Guides are consistently called out for making people feel welcome and engaged, whether they're visitors or locals who thought they already knew the city.
I lived in Providence for over twenty years and have taken various cruises with Providence River Boat Company always learning something new about my city each time. All of the captains are professional and make the boat ride fun and interesting. I can’t say enough good things about this tour company. Excellent girls excursion with appetizers and wine too!
