Wear comfortable walking shoes. A hat or sun visor, sunscreen, and bug spray are recommended.
Standing before Drayton Hall, you sense immediately that this place has been spared the renovations and restorations that have softened so many historic sites. The original heart-pine floors, hand-carved plasterwork, and unaltered rooms speak plainly across nearly three centuries. Drayton Hall asks you to look closely and sit with what you find, without the comfort of period furnishings to fill the silence.
