Guide, E-bikes
Ride premium e-bikes through Scottsdale's most scenic routes to the Echo Canyon trailhead on Camelback Mountain, then hike the first portion of the trail to a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the city and the Sonoran Desert. The Echo Canyon Trail is an official "Point of Pride" destination in Arizona, and this 2.5-hour guided tour is designed to get you there without the stress of navigating traffic, finding parking, or battling the desert heat on foot the whole way.
This tour combines the best of e-biking and hiking into one experience, giving you a taste of the Echo Canyon Trail and a full introduction to Scottsdale's landscape, neighborhoods, and desert character.
Participants must be between 12 and 75 years of age and at least 5 feet tall. Expecting mothers cannot participate. You must be able to confidently ride a bicycle and will be asked to pass a brief proficiency test before departure. E-bikes are equipped with pedal assist and a twist throttle, making the ride manageable for most fitness levels. The Echo Canyon Trail section covered on this tour (to marker #9) is considered easy, but wear closed-toe shoes suitable for hiking on rocky terrain. Dress for the weather and bring sunscreen; your guide provides unlimited cold bottled water. Bike bags are provided for your belongings while you hike.
This is a typical itinerary for this e-bike and hike tour. The total experience is approximately 2.5 hours.
Your tour begins at Segway of Scottsdale, 7330 East Earll Drive, Suite R, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. The building is a brown building with "segway" in black letters; park on the street, walk into the courtyard, and find the office at the last door on the right. Your guide greets the group, distributes audio receivers and earpieces, and provides a hands-on tutorial on how to operate the e-bikes, including pedal assist and twist throttle. You must pass a brief proficiency test before the group departs.
The ride begins on the Greenbelt bike path, a world-class gold-star rated trail that runs through Scottsdale. The path follows canals and green corridors lined with desert landscaping, and at nearly every turn there are views of the surrounding mountains and bodies of water. Your guide narrates through the audio system, pointing out Sonoran Desert plants like saguaro cactus, prickly pear, palo verde trees, and ocotillo, along with wildlife including roadrunners, bald eagles, coyotes, herons, and prairie dogs. After a few miles, the route crosses the Arizona Canal.
From the canal crossing, the route enters Paradise Valley, the most expensive zip code in the Scottsdale area. The group rides on slow, quiet residential streets past multi-million-dollar estates where celebrities, professional athletes, and business leaders live. Your guide points out notable properties, including estates valued at $16 million and above, with views of Mummy Mountain and the McDowell Mountains in the distance. The ride through Paradise Valley gives you a close look at the luxury architecture and xeriscape landscaping that define this part of the desert.
The e-bikes arrive at the Echo Canyon trailhead on the east side of Camelback Mountain. Your guide parks and secures the bikes, and the group sets out on foot. The hike follows the first portion of the Echo Canyon Trail, an official "Point of Pride" in Arizona and one of the most popular hiking trails in the Phoenix metro area. The Echo Canyon Trail is the more challenging of Camelback Mountain's two main routes, but this tour covers only the initial, easier section. After approximately 15 minutes of hiking, you reach marker #9, where the trail opens to panoramic views of the city, the desert, and the surrounding mountain ranges. You have time to take photos and soak in the views before hiking back down to the bikes.
The group remounts the e-bikes and follows a curated return route back through Scottsdale, passing Chaparral Park and additional scenic corridors. Your guide continues narrating local history and recommending restaurants and activities for the rest of your trip. The tour concludes back at Segway of Scottsdale.
Highlights along the route include: Greenbelt bike path, Arizona Canal, Paradise Valley estates, Mummy Mountain views, McDowell Mountains, Chaparral Park, Sonoran Desert flora and fauna, and the Echo Canyon Trail on Camelback Mountain

Echo Canyon is the eastern gateway to Camelback Mountain, the most iconic landform in the Scottsdale and Phoenix skyline. The Echo Canyon Trail is one of two main routes to the summit and is officially designated as a "Point of Pride" by the state of Arizona. Hikers come from around the world to climb it, but the trailhead sits in one of the most congested parking areas in the valley, and the full trail is a demanding scramble that is not for everyone. This tour solves both problems by delivering you to Echo Canyon on an e-bike and guiding you up just the first, most accessible section of the trail, where the views are already spectacular.
The 2.5-hour experience is split roughly in half between riding and hiking. The e-bike portion takes you along the Greenbelt bike path, a car-free corridor with mountain views and canal crossings, then through the quiet residential streets of Paradise Valley, where the homes are as striking as the desert scenery around them. Your guide narrates the ride through a personal audio system, sharing Scottsdale history, pointing out desert plants and wildlife, and calling out notable properties along the way. At the Echo Canyon trailhead, you leave the bikes behind and hike approximately 15 minutes to marker #9, where the trail opens to panoramic views of the city, the valley floor, and the surrounding mountain ranges. It is enough altitude to feel the accomplishment without requiring an advanced fitness level.
This Echo Canyon tour is a great fit for visitors who want to experience Camelback Mountain without committing to the full hike, couples and families looking for an active but accessible outdoor activity, and anyone who wants a guided introduction to Scottsdale's landscape and neighborhoods on their first or second day in town.
Visitors consistently rave about the exceptional guides here, with names like Hector, Brian, Jackson, and Carter earning special praise for their knowledge, safety consciousness, and ability to make tours genuinely fun. The company offers various tour options including Segways, e-bikes, and golf carts, with many reviewers noting how easy it is to learn even if you've never tried these activities before. The frozen cooling vests are a standout amenity that guests really appreciate in the Arizona heat. Beyond the equipment, what shines through is the personal touch. Guides take time to ensure everyone feels comfortable and confident before setting off, and the owner demonstrates real flexibility when weather or scheduling issues arise. Most tours strike a nice balance between sightseeing and activity. One newer guide did receive feedback about lacking historical depth, so if you're especially interested in Scottsdale's history, you might want to do some reading beforehand or specifically request one of the more experienced guides. Overall, this is a highly rated operation that delivers a memorable way to explore the area with attentive, engaging guides.
Nick was a fabulous guide - so friendly and full of information about Scottsdale. The length of the tour was fantastic and offered so many beautiful sights. How thoughtful to bring us waters! A+!
