Yes. If your group is over 6 passengers, US Coast Guard regulations require a bareboat charter and you pay the captain separately in addition to your prepaid charter fee. An additional $100 per hour is due on arrival and paid directly to your captain (cash, Venmo, or Zelle). If you book 7+ passengers but arrive with fewer, you still pay this additional $100 per hour.
Arrive at the marina at least 30 minutes before your charter (longer on weekends and holidays) and plan to be at the boat 20 minutes before departure. Late arrival shortens your time on the lake.
Yes. Bring your own food, snacks, and drinks. Water is provided, and the boat has a cooler or small refrigerator; ice isn’t provided, so bring your own.
All charters start and end in the Tahoe Keys Marina located in South Lake Tahoe, CA.
Boat charters on Lake Tahoe don't get much better than this. The captains here, particularly Zach (who's also the owner), Brandon, Chad, Adam, and Duncan, consistently earn praise for being knowledgeable, laid-back, and genuinely fun to spend time with on the water. They clearly know the lake inside and out, sharing fascinating local history and taking guests to stunning spots while maintaining a relaxed vibe that lets the day unfold naturally. What stands out is how customizable the experience feels. Groups have done everything from peaceful sunset cruises and memorial services to action-packed bachelor and bachelorette parties with tubing and wake surfing. Captains are happy to mix sightseeing with water activities, take photos (Zach apparently flies a drone too), and adjust the itinerary based on what guests want. The booking process gets mentioned as smooth and responsive, which matters when you're coordinating a special occasion. Several reviewers specifically note they're planning return trips or would recommend a longer charter time, which says plenty about the quality of the experience you'll get on Tahoe's gorgeous waters.
Adam was an awesome captain and guide! He was so informative and gave us options to somewhat customize our experience.
