Captain Shane clearly knows these waters and consistently delivers for his guests. The fishing trips are a standout, with multiple reviewers catching their limit of red snapper within just a couple hours, plus exciting catches like spinner sharks and blacktip sharks. His first mate Austin gets special praise for keeping lines baited and helping passengers throughout the trip. The boat itself is well-maintained with quality electronics and gear, and it handles rough conditions smoothly. Beyond fishing, the sunset and dolphin tours provide relaxed, family-friendly options where Shane's personable nature and local knowledge shine through. A few guests had higher expectations than reality delivered, particularly on dolphin tours where the animals stayed at a distance, and one fishing trip struggled to find productive spots until the final stop. That said, the overwhelming majority of families, birthday groups, and bachelorette parties rave about their experiences. Captain Shane adapts well to weather challenges, communicates honestly about conditions, and clearly goes the extra mile to make trips memorable for everyone from toddlers to experienced anglers.
Galveston Sea Ventures did an awesome job with our charter. We had a 2.5hr bay trip with 6 people in our group - it was a blast. The boat was spacious and clean, the ride to our fishing spot was smooth. We had various experience levels in our group, but our captain made sure everyone was up to speed and having fun fishing. Everyone caught a fish, some we threw back but we ended up with 6 fish to take home. Captain Shaw recommended we go to Huli Huli Hut and have them cook the fish for us, so we did and it was delicious. We had the drum blackened and catfish fried; we stuffed ourselves and still had leftovers. Overall, nothing but good things to say about Galveston Sea Ventures!
