Bioluminescence is a natural phenomenon and may range from very visible to minimal or not visible. Moon phase can affect visibility; a tarp may be used to help you appreciate the glow.
All kayaks on the BioBay kayak tour are two-person kayaks. If your group has an uneven number of participants, one person will be paired with another participant.
Your 6:00 PM group may be moved to the first departure if the minimum number of participants is not met.
`Pick-up from San Juan, with meeting points available in Rio Grande, Luquillo, and Fajardo.
On the northeastern coast of Puerto Rico, Laguna Grande draws visitors to one of the most vivid natural spectacles on the island. After dark, the water lights up with a blue-green shimmer as millions of bioluminescent dinoflagellates respond to every stroke of a paddle. Laguna Grande sits within a protected mangrove forest in Fajardo, and the journey through the winding canals is as memorable as the lagoon itself. The dense canopy overhead gives way to open water, and the glow beneath your kayak feels almost otherworldly.
George was amazing! Truly one of a kind. I couldn’t have asked for a better tour guide. This man really knows his culture and surroundings. He started off as our tour guide but ended as our FAMILY! 10/10 recommend this company, and I hope you’re as lucky as we were to have George be your guide.
