Itinerary

1. Arrival and check-in at Las Croabas with insect repellent, waivers and kayak 101 safety training.
2. Paddle across a small fishing harbor into the mangrove channel, about 25–30 minutes depending on traffic and tides.
3. Stop in the lagoon for commentary on mangroves, birdlife, marine life, bioluminescence and lighthouse history.
4. Paddle along the edge of Laguna Grande to view bioluminescence and marine life.
5. Continue to Bird Island for nighttime bird viewing.
6. Return to shore for snacks, water and closing comments; optional return to hotel based on traffic.

Important details

• Ages 6+ only; ages 6–12 must share a kayak with an adult, and ages 13–17 need an adult on the tour to complete their waiver
• Maximum weight is 230 lbs per person and 450 lbs combined per kayak; maximum height is 6'4"
• Requires speaking and understanding English or Spanish
• Complete a waiver and safety orientation before entering the water
• No swimming is permitted in Laguna Grande
• No alcohol during the tour; intoxication or impairment prevents participation
• Not suitable during pregnancy over six months or for back, neck, shoulder, heart, severe asthma, epilepsy, recent-surgery, dizziness, motion-sickness, or severe mosquito or sargassum allergies
• Requires sitting in a tight kayak position for up to two hours and comfort around water and darkness
• Expect bioluminescence visibility to vary with weather, water conditions, and moon phase; very low or no visibility is possible on full-moon nights
• Tours may be canceled when forecasts show a 50% or greater chance of rain, winds over 18 knots, or possible thunderstorms
