Guides like Mark, Marc, Mak, and Jamie get enthusiastic praise for their deep knowledge of Hawaiian history, culture, and local ecosystems. Travelers consistently mention how much they learned while still having fun, with guides sharing personal stories and connections that made the experience feel authentic rather than touristy. The open-air Broncos are a huge hit, offering a comfortable ride even for those prone to car sickness, and guides know exactly where to stop for the best photos, local treats like Aunty Sandy's banana bread, and hidden spots most visitors would never find on their own. The full-day tours run around 12-13 hours, but reviewers say the time flies thanks to engaging personalities and well-paced itineraries. Guides handle all the logistics, pre-ordering food from local spots and knowing where the best facilities are along the route. A couple of recent reviews raised concerns about aggressive driving behavior from tour vehicles on the road, which stands out against the otherwise overwhelmingly positive feedback. Most guests describe their guides as patient, respectful, and genuinely passionate about sharing Hawaii's beauty and culture. Booking well in advance is recommended, especially during busy travel seasons.
This was absolutely the best tour we have ever been on. We did the luxury SUV “epic road to Hana” tour and it was perfection. Communication was great starting from the day we booked months ago to the minute we got picked up. The tour provided water and juice for us and we brought some of our own things. The car was very comfortable but the real star of the day was our guide Jaime! Jaime is a local who was chock full of information. She shared so much about the history of the island, highlights of all the nature we saw, Hawaiian lore and more! She recommended some amazing additional stops to get local fruit and was a fantastic driver who nailed all the timing of each stop so nothing was too crowded for us. We would hands down book with Hawaii by Storm again with a special request to have Jaime show us around cause was truly the best.
