Michelle Rogers created Sonoma Valley Trail Rides in her home town of Sonoma, California in 2018. Her love of horses and wine inspired her to create this unique way for locals and visitors to experience the incredible Sonoma Valley. Michelle has been involved with horses for over 35 years. Her professional career with horses includes traveling the country managing various professional horse barns, competing in the show ring, as well as training and breeding horses.
Michelle and her team have clearly created something special here. The horses get mentioned by name again and again in reviews—Benny, Sky, Archie, Sugar—and guests genuinely seem to bond with these gentle, well-trained animals. What stands out is how Michelle, along with guides like Tish and Travis, weave the history of Bartholomew Winery and the surrounding estate into each ride, making it both scenic and educational. The fact that they accommodate last-minute bookings and take tons of photos throughout the experience shows they're thinking about the little details that matter. This works beautifully for all experience levels, from childhood-dream first-timers to seasoned riders who appreciate quality horses. The optional add-on of wine tasting or a picnic lunch after your ride makes it easy to extend the experience. Communication is smooth from booking through the actual ride, and the warm, personable approach from everyone involved creates memorable moments that people want to repeat.
“We had an incredible horseback riding experience! Tish was an amazing wrangler and guide — friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel completely at ease. The horses were calm, well-trained, and full of personality, which made the ride even more memorable. Couldn’t have asked for a better day!”
