Guides Jessica, Oscarina, and Mike consistently earn praise for creating an intimate, deeply educational swamp experience that feels worlds away from typical tourist traps. What stands out most is their genuine passion and local knowledge—Jessica grew up in Honey Island, and her enthusiasm for the ecosystem is infectious. Reviewers rave about learning far more than expected, from discovering that Spanish moss is actually a bromeliad to spotting centuries-old cypress trees and understanding the delicate balance of swamp life. The kayaking itself strikes that perfect balance between peaceful and adventurous. Wildlife sightings vary (alligators, herons, turtles, and snakes make appearances), but even those who encounter less fauna emphasize that the ancient trees and serene beauty of the swamp are worth the trip alone. The guides excel at accommodating different skill levels and group sizes while maintaining a friendly, safety-conscious atmosphere. Multiple reviewers mention this was the highlight of their Louisiana trip, particularly appreciating the small group size and the guides' patient teaching style that makes everyone feel welcome.
This kayak tour was probably the coolest part of our trip to New Orleans! Jessica is awesome. She makes it easy to get a hang of kayaking even if you’ve never done it before, and she has so much knowledge about the area. You can tell she cares a lot about the habitat and wildlife. The tour was beautiful and so unique. I would highly recommend!
