Lake Mead National Recreation Area unfolds just beyond the bright lights of Las Vegas, a vast desert playground where turquoise water meets red rock canyons and wide open skies. On this Can-Am Ryker tour, Lake Mead National Recreation Area becomes the scenic heart of the ride, a place where the roar of the engine gives way to the hush of the Mojave and the shimmer of America's largest reservoir by volume. The route hugs sweeping curves and climbs gentle ridges, offering riders a front-row seat to one of the most dramatic landscapes in the Southwest, all on the way to the engineering marvel of Hoover Dam.
Cruising into Lake Mead National Recreation Area on a three-wheeled Ryker is an experience built for the senses. The desert air rushes past, warm and dry, carrying the faint scent of creosote and sun-baked stone. Panoramic pullouts reveal sapphire coves tucked between rust-colored cliffs, while the open cockpit lets you take in the full sweep of sky overhead. Unlike a car tour, where windows frame the view, Lake Mead National Recreation Area surrounds you completely, every overlook another chance to feel the scale of the canyons and the deep stillness of the water below. The contrast with the neon energy of the Strip you left behind only minutes earlier makes the landscape feel even more spectacular.
This ride is perfect for couples chasing a memorable day trip, solo adventurers craving open road, and curious travelers who want to see a different side of Las Vegas without the demands of a full motorcycle license, since the Ryker is easy to operate. Riders who love photography, geology, big landscapes, or simply the freedom of the open road will find plenty to savor inside Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Pair that with the awe of arriving at Hoover Dam under your own power, and a guided Ryker tour through Lake Mead National Recreation Area becomes one of the most unforgettable ways to explore the desert beyond the city.
This is hands-down one of Vegas's most entertaining ways to explore the city and Red Rock Canyon. The GPS-guided FUVs (fun utility vehicles) are easy to operate after a quick training video, though be prepared to really muscle those handlebars during tight turns since there's no power steering. Staff members consistently get praise for being helpful and funny during check-in, making the whole experience feel relaxed and welcoming from the start. The heated seats and grip warmers are a nice touch for cooler weather rides. The Strip tour takes about an hour and hits all the major sights with entertaining audio commentary, while the Red Rock Canyon option gives you around four hours total. Just know that the Red Rock trip involves roughly 85 minutes of street driving each way, leaving about two hours for the canyon itself, so it's more about the journey than deep exploration. Multiple families mention this being worth every dollar, especially since you can go at your own pace and even make practical stops along the way. First-timers, including those with zero motorbike experience, report feeling comfortable and safe on the road. Bring your driver's license and expect to find street parking near the office.
Our group of six had so much fun. We chose the downtown option and learned so much about old Vegas. Definitely can’t wait to come back and do the Strip route. The cars are so much fun to drive.
