Sailing out of Carnelian Bay
Sailing on Lake Tahoe aboard the Sierra Cloud catamaran is one of those experiences that seems to stick with people long after they leave. Captain Funk and his crew consistently earn praise for being genuinely warm and attentive, creating a relaxed, fun atmosphere with great music, cold drinks, and snack boards that make the two-hour cruise feel like a celebration. The open catamaran design is a real draw too, giving everyone unobstructed 360-degree views of the stunning scenery rather than jostling for a spot at the railing. One thing worth knowing before you book: the cruise route stays mostly on the northern portion of the lake rather than hugging the shoreline, so if seeing specific landmarks or coastal scenery is important to you, it's worth calling ahead to set expectations. There have also been isolated complaints about communication following weather cancellations, so if you're booking around a special occasion, it may be worth confirming the cancellation policy directly. That said, the overwhelming majority of guests leave raving, and many come back season after season.
