Experience a slow-paced guided paddle through the Atchafalaya Basin. Glide among towering second-growth cypress while learning about Cajun culture and native wildlife.
Children under 8 must be accompanied by a parent. Two-person minimum; tandem kayaks available on request. Able paddlers only and kayaks have weight restrictions.
We allow a 24 hour window to cancel your tour with a full refund. However, if you do not cancel within that window, we will not be able to process a refund.
Since we do not feed wildlife, we cannot guarantee sightings. American alligators here are typically timid and avoid people.
The Atchafalaya is home to many creatures. On a typical day we may see a variety of birds and alligators, and sometimes otters, beavers, snakes, fishing spiders, and raccoons.
Dress for the weather. It can feel about 10 degrees cooler on the water on cool days. In summer, a hat and light clothing are recommended.

We loved seeing all the trees Captain Dean took us to, enjoyed naming birds with our fellow tour friends and seeing some alligators. It was easy to find, easy to ride along in the boat and easy to listen to Captain Dean’s passion about preserving our beautiful swamps. Highly recommend if you are looking for a short tour around the Atchafalaya basin. Next time we are going to do the kayak tour. Bring: sunscreen (non spray to protect the swamp) a sun hat, bug spray and some water. Pro tip: drive up to plaquemine for poboys at Fat Daddy!

Wonderful way to spend a morning. My friend and I are playing tourist in our home state and going around Louisiana doing things we know are unique to this beautiful state…and Last Wilderness was exactly what we were hoping for. We loved seeing all the trees Captain Dean took us to, enjoyed naming birds with our fellow tour friends and seeing some alligators. It was easy to find, easy to ride along in the boat and easy to listen to Captain Dean’s passion about preserving our beautiful swamps. Highly recommend if you are looking for a short tour around the Atchafalaya basin. Next time we are going to do the kayak tour.
