Drop below the surface at Molasses Reef and you enter one of the most biodiverse stretches of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. Towering coral spires, sea fans swaying in the current, and dense schools of tropical fish greet you within moments of descending. Molasses Reef rewards snorkelers and divers alike, offering shallow flats ideal for beginners and deeper ledges that satisfy experienced underwater explorers. The clarity of the water here is consistently remarkable, making every visit feel vivid and immediate.
I completed my PADI Open Water, Advanced Open Water, and Nitrox certifications with Doc during an intensive five-day trip to Key Largo, and I couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. He was attentive, patient, and very good at recognizing what I needed to improve. I learned quickly because his explanations were clear and practical. What impressed me most was how calm and decisive Doc remained whenever conditions required quick judgment. He paid close attention to me underwater, responded immediately when needed, and always made safety the priority. At the same time, he helped me build confidence rather than making difficult moments feel discouraging. Beyond being an excellent instructor, Doc is simply awesome. Well-principled, genuine, and really cool to hang with. I left Key Largo with three certifications, much stronger diving skills, and an even greater desire to keep diving. I would absolutely train with Doc again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for an attentive, knowledgeable, and dependable instructor.
