Spot whales from a reduced-capacity yacht with a naturalist guide
2-3 hours
Whale watch tour, Naturalist
Climb aboard High Spirits for a 2–3 hour whale-watching cruise on Monterey Bay with plenty of space to move around. Your trip is narrated by a knowledgeable naturalist, with viewing from the bow, cabin windows, and an optional upper deck.
Arrive 20 minutes early for check-in and a safety briefing. Bring your own food and drink, as the onboard snack bar has been removed. Parking permits at Moss Landing Harbor cost $15 and paying by credit card adds extra charges—bring cash.
Once purchased, tickets are non-refundable. You may reschedule with at least 48 hours notice. If Blue Ocean cancels due to rough weather or unforeseen circumstances, you will be rescheduled or refunded.
Bring your own food and drinks. Use hand-held lunch coolers only—no large coolers.
Bring cash for a Moss Landing Harbor parking permit ($15). Bring cash for crew gratuity (optional) and for renting electronic motion sickness relief bands ($8). The harbor charges extra to pay for parking by credit card.
Dress in layers and plan for cold conditions. Wear close-toed shoes, and consider a waterproof jacket and pants for rain, fog, or sea spray.

Captain and marine biologist were awesome. Gave us plethora of fun facts. Boat size was perfect and layout was good. I do not recommend buying top deck seats. You’ll miss out on the excitement when the dolphins and whales breach the water.
