Fish Alaska’s in-season species aboard a full-day catamaran charter
12 hrs
Fishing gear, crew, fish filleting
Explore Gulf of Alaska waters on a multi-species fishing trip from Orca Island Yurts. Target the fish that are legal and in season with guidance from the captain and deckhand.
Our boat will depart from Miller's Landing at 6:00am to Orca Island Yurts. Picking you up around 6:20 am. Please plan to bring your own breakfast, lunch and drinks for the day. (For everyone’s safety, alcohol is not permitted on board). We do have meal packages available if you want a hassle-free trip.
The boat returns around 6:00 pm, offering a full-day fishing experience for up to 10 anglers. The vessel can also carry up to six additional guests as a water taxi to the fjords for guided kayaking or glacier sightseeing.
Each vessel measures 36 to 40 feet long by 13 to 14 feet wide and features a spacious walk-around cabin with over 30 feet of rail space per side, providing plenty of room for up to five anglers on each side. All passengers board together, and if there are kayakers on board, they are dropped off around 8:00 a.m. before fishing begins — placing anglers just minutes from the fishing grounds. When no kayak or taxi drop-off is scheduled, that extra time becomes an additional hour of fishing at no extra cost.
Upon returning to Miller’s Landing. We clean your fish for you, then you take it to the processor to be packaged, frozen and even shipped if needed. If you purchase our fishing package, we take care of everything for you! Afterwards you will need to take our water taxi, which you will book separately, back to Orca Island Yurts.
Cancel 30+ days ahead for a 90% refund; 15–29 days ahead for 75%. Within 14 days, receive 50% only if the trip is rebooked. A $10 fee applies to all cancellations. Full refund if the operator cancels due to weather.
Bring warm layers, a waterproof jacket and pants, a warm hat, gloves, and non-slip waterproof boots or shoes. Bring sunscreen and sunglasses for sun and water glare.
Bring your own breakfast, lunch, snacks, and drinks for the day. Meals are not included, and meal packages are available.
Your fish are cleaned and filleted after the charter. Bring a small cooler if you are driving locally, or arrange processing, freezing, and shipping separately unless your selected fishing package includes those services.

Booked a fishing charter with captain Judd and Stonie. The weather was less than desirable for fishing, let alone leaving the bay. Judd is a skilled captain and even better at finding kings. 8 guys on a boat was a little tight, but it works if you pay attention. It took a minute but once we were on tge fish, everyone took turns reeling in silvers and kings. My only disappointment is how the fish got divided at the end. I caught 4 silvers and my uncle caught two of the biggest kings. Somehow I only got 3 fish worth of fillers and they swapped his second biggest catch with the other groups small one. No big deal. I had also read that captain Jack's would be open to pack and flash freeze our catch. We ended up having to use J-dock. They informed us that they do not flash freeze so we had to ship the fish rather than check it on our flight home. All in all great crew, and the half day is totally worth it. Just know if its bad weather, you won't get to fish for rockfish. Location note: don't follow Google maps, just pay for parking in the north lot and walk to the wood deck behind the shops near pier walkway "c". You'll see a small little office to check in at.
