Highlights
Ride restored early-1900s coach cars from a historic depot to Quartzite Lake for a seasonal rail outing. Optional locally grown pumpkins are not included in the ticket price and are sold for cash only.
- Travel through a valley between the Baraboo Hills on a former railway branch line
- Browse pumpkins from a local grower at the end of the line
- Bring your pumpkin aboard for the return trip with conductor loading assistance
- Open individual train windows for ventilation when temperatures allow
Itinerary
- Arrive and check in (we suggest 1 hour before your ride time)
- Use this time to explore the museum buildings and train yard filled with restored trains and railroad exhibits
- Board the train (about 10 minutes before departure)
- Enjoy the ride to the end of the track at Quartzite Lake
- Get off the train at Quartzite Lake and redeem the pumpkin voucher provided by the ticket agent (if purchased) for a pumpkin!
- Climb back aboard with your future jack-o-lantern and enjoy a ride back to North Freedom
- Don't forget to explore the museum gift store

Important details
- Arrive at least 20 minutes before departure and check in at the depot ticket office for a printed boarding ticket
- Bring only water and infant formula aboard; other food and drinks are not permitted
- No wheelchair lift is available at Quartzite Lake, so passengers using the lift at North Freedom cannot get off there
- Dress for the weather: trains run rain or shine, and coach cars are not climate-controlled
Cancellation Policy
Cancel at least 14 days before the event for a refund minus a 25% processing and handling fee. Booking convenience fees are nonrefundable. Within 14 days, refunds are only available if the reservation is successfully resold.

Explore the museum displays before or after your ride. Allow about 1 additional hour for the self-guided tour and gift shop; museum grounds are open 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
