Visitors consistently praise the friendly, helpful staff and well-organized operations here, from smooth shuttle services to well-maintained equipment. The Illinois River floats are described as beautiful and reliably swift without being overly challenging, typically running 2-4 hours. Campsites are kept mowed and clean, with bathrooms that reviewers note stay surprisingly tidy. The historic buildings on the property add character and even inspire some fun ghost stories for groups staying overnight. The main thing to know upfront: bring your own drinking water. The well water has a sulfur smell that many reviewers mention, though it doesn't affect the overall positive experience once you're prepared for it. One reviewer noted that canoes can be unstable for beginners, particularly in the early rapids, so first-timers might want to ask about kayaks instead. Despite these quirks, guests repeatedly return and recommend the experience, highlighting the accommodating atmosphere and straightforward access to a genuinely enjoyable river trip.

One of the most magical places on earth. From the campground to the historic buildings to the shuttle service and great fleet of b kayaks, canoes and rafts to the put in and the take out and everything in between. This is a five star experience that you won’t regret!
