Captains Gary, Chris, and Jack consistently earn high praise for their skill and enthusiasm on the water, and the onboard naturalists (David and Wes in particular) bring genuine expertise that turns a boat ride into something educational and memorable. The small boat format is a real advantage here. It moves fast, gets up close to wildlife, and keeps group sizes intimate in a way the larger tour boats simply can't match. Whale sightings are never guaranteed, and a couple of reviewers have gone out multiple times before hitting the jackpot, but when the whales show up, guests describe truly spectacular encounters with humpbacks, dolphins, seals, and even the occasional sea turtle. Beyond whale watching, the lighthouse and coastal scenic tours are well worth considering if you want a shorter or more relaxed outing. One practical note worth keeping in mind: the small boat rides fast, and on choppy days the impact can be rough on your back and joints. Coming prepared with layers, sunscreen, and some neck support on bigger swells will make a real difference. That aside, the crew's responsiveness and genuine care for their guests, including going out of their way to rebook a family who missed their trip, says a lot about how this operation is run.
Capt Jack and David were awesome!!! We had the most amazing tour on Sept 29, 2025. We saw a total of 5 whales - 2 were together at 2 different times. David was very informative about the whales we saw and Boone Island. Capt Jack gave us the best boat ride. I would highly recommend using them! I hope your experience will be just as great as ours especially since they can’t guarantee you will see a whale.
