Royal Hawaiian Surf Academy has built an impressive reputation with instructors who genuinely know how to teach. Steve, Lee, Josh, Felipe, Kea, and Kai all get called out by name for being patient, encouraging, and skilled at getting first-timers standing up on their boards quickly. Families particularly appreciate how comfortable the instructors make kids and nervous adults feel in the water. The teaching approach seems to strike that perfect balance between clear instruction and making the whole experience fun and relaxed. Beyond the surfing itself, Ric's photography captures the experience beautifully, giving people those vacation photos they'll treasure forever. The location and waves are consistently praised, and the operation runs smoothly overall. One reviewer had trouble reaching them during a scheduling issue, though that was eventually resolved professionally. With such overwhelmingly positive feedback about the instructors' expertise and welcoming vibe, this is clearly a solid choice for anyone wanting to try surfing in Maui, whether it's your first time or you're returning after years away from the sport.
