    FAQs

Meet at the City Harbor Dock in Belfast, Maine (between the Nautilus restaurant and the Harbor master office). Look for a 28 ft white lobster boat flying a “Back and Forth” flag with a big golden star on top.

On rare occasions, trips can run over. If you don’t see the boat right away, look for it coming in from out in the bay.

Yes. You can stop by Young’s Lobster Pound to pick up lobster, snacks, drinks, or something more substantial to enjoy on board.

The crew here, including guides like Della, Dylan, Greta, and Aaron, are consistently the highlight of this experience. Knowledgeable, warm, and genuinely engaging, they field endless questions about lobstering, local wildlife, and Maine history without missing a beat. Wildlife sightings, including seals, porpoises, and even the occasional osprey-eagle showdown, add a natural element of excitement to the bay tours. Families with young kids, including infants, have found the rides smooth and welcoming, and the lobster rolls from Young's Lobster Pound included with the tour are frequently described as trip highlights on their own. The lobster boat experience is more of a relaxed, educational outing than an action-packed adventure. You'll pull up traps, learn the process, and soak in the scenery rather than haul in a massive catch. For travelers who come in with that understanding, the experience delivers beautifully. Those expecting a more hands-on or unpredictable fishing experience should know what they're signing up for. Overall, the reviews paint a picture of a well-run, genuinely enjoyable way to spend a few hours on Penobscot Bay.

Awesome experience! Captain Mike was courteous and informative. We could be total observers or "all in" to pull, bait and re-launch lobster traps, hold and measure the critters, determine the gender of a lobster and if it was legal size. Even got to drive the boat! Loved it. Best for last, the lobster feast... and it truly was s feast: whole lobster, corn on the cob, some sweet shrimp snd more steamed clams, muscles and oysters on the half than I could eat! Highly recomended!
