This is one of those rare tour operations where the captains genuinely seem to care about giving you a memorable experience, not just running through the motions. Captain Dave and Captain Neil get mentioned by name repeatedly, and guests consistently praise how knowledgeable, accommodating, and genuinely friendly they are. They share fascinating local history about Hilton Head and Daufuskie Island, point out interesting homes and landmarks, and have a real talent for tracking down dolphin pods. What stands out is the personal touch: they'll adjust routes based on tides, pick you up from your resort, drop you at restaurants, keep you updated on weather concerns, and generally go out of their way to customize the experience to what you want. The dolphin sightings seem to be pretty reliable, with multiple reviewers mentioning they saw dolphins throughout their entire tour or spotted numerous pods up close. A few guests noted they didn't see huge numbers, but even then they had a great time thanks to the captains' commentary and relaxed vibe. Families with young kids especially appreciate how patient and entertaining the captains are, and the laid-back atmosphere means you might get to jump in for a swim or even steer the boat if you ask. Several groups braved iffy weather and were glad they did, which speaks to how the captains manage expectations and make the best of conditions. The sunset cruises get particular love for spectacular views on the way back. Overall, this feels like the kind of personalized small-boat tour that beats the crowded group cruises hands down.
We had a great time! Saw TONS of dolphins, they even showed off for us and did some jumps out of the water. Dave was a fantastic guide. Having a more private tour is definitely the way to go. Highly recommend.
