Wisconsin Dells, WI
Jake and his crew have built something special on the Lower Dells stretch of the Wisconsin River. Reviewers consistently praise the friendly, helpful staff who take time to point out wildlife spotting opportunities (keep your eyes up for eagles and osprey) and ensure everyone feels comfortable on the water. The operation runs smoothly from start to finish, with easy put-in and take-out points, well-maintained open-top kayaks, and pickup service when you reach the public beach. Multiple repeat visitors mention bringing friends and family back, which speaks volumes about the experience. The scenery is the real star here—stunning river cliffs, sandbars perfect for breaks, and natural beauty around every bend. Most people take about two hours, but there's no rush to paddle quickly. Be prepared to get wet from waves when jet boats pass by, and consider grabbing one of their waterproof phone cases. One reviewer noted the river can get busy with boat traffic, suggesting earlier morning trips for a quieter experience. The local, small-business vibe shines through, with one story highlighting the owner's generosity and genuine kindness that left a lasting impression.
This was such a great experience! The standard tour took us an hour and a half to complete. It was a bit physically challenging (we could rest on the way, but we did not🤣). We had so much fun! Another bonus is that the kayaks are really convenient! They have back support too. I also appreciate that they allow dogs. Pups had a blast swimming in the river. It’s really convenient that you park right next to the starting point and in the end they pick you up and drive back to the parking. They also sell waterproof phone cases, which was really useful considering how beautiful the nature is there.
