Yes. You must be able to climb off the bow of the open vessel onto the shoreline in ankle- to knee-deep water. Expect to get wet and sandy (and possibly muddy).
Dress for the weather; temperatures can change rapidly on the water. Water shoes or rubber-soled shoes are recommended to help avoid injury from sharp natural elements. Consider a windbreaker, rain gear, or muck boots for rainy days.

Bull River Marina has clearly built something special, with customers raving about the exceptional staff and diverse offerings. Captains Nick, Buddy, and Vinny V get mentioned by name repeatedly, praised for their local knowledge, professionalism, and ability to personalize each trip. The shark tooth hunting excursions to Bird Island are a massive hit, with guests finding hundreds of teeth and even the occasional megalodon tooth. The office staff, particularly Gina and Kim, earn glowing praise for being responsive, helpful, and going the extra mile with everything from booking questions to loading luggage and bikes. What stands out is the variety of experiences available and how well the team executes across the board. The customer service shines through at every touchpoint, with multiple reviewers noting how accommodating and friendly everyone is. The shark tooth tours particularly benefit from their proximity to prime hunting spots and insider knowledge that puts you on the best finds.
We go out to Shark tooth hunt with Bull River whenever we go to Tybee. Usually in Oct/Nov but most recently in on April 9, 2026. We went out at 7AM. It's been cold there this week with high winds, so we layered up. We found mostly smalls, but I got a 1.5 inch very nice Tiger Shark tooth with the barbs on the side still intact (paper plate). The hand photo is what my daughter in law found.
