Climb to the top of Shepherd of the Hills Inspiration Tower and the Ozark Mountains unfold in every direction, rolling ridges fading into a blue-green horizon. Standing 230 feet above the historic Shepherd of the Hills homestead in Branson, Missouri, the tower places you at the center of a landscape that inspired one of America's most beloved regional novels. The view rewards every step of the ascent.
This entertainment complex offers a solid variety of activities that families especially seem to enjoy. The adventure park gets consistent praise for keeping kids engaged with obstacle courses, ziplines, the Copperhead mountain coaster, mini golf, and a suspension bridge. The Chuckwagon dinner show stands out as a highlight, with visitors loving the performers and singers. Tours with knowledgeable guides like Jim and Cowboy John leave a strong impression, and the Inspiration Tower provides stunning views worth the climb. However, operational issues pop up frequently enough to warrant attention. Staffing appears stretched thin, leading to long waits for meals, rides, and even just picking up pre-purchased tickets. Several visitors mention confusion at ticket counters about what's included in various packages. The outdoor drama divides audiences sharply—some find it excellent while others feel it drags. A few guests encountered staff members who came across as dismissive or unhelpful, though this doesn't seem universal. If you're going with younger children and can visit on less crowded days, you'll likely have a great time. Just plan for some wait times and maybe skip the stairs for tower access if lines look long.
I took my kids and grandkids to see The Wild West Show. It was awesome and with a family pass so affordable. We had ages 2 to 63 and everyone loved it. From the trick riding, comedy and magic, it was a wonderful show.
