This walking food tour delivers exactly what travelers want: knowledgeable guides who genuinely love Savannah's history and culture, paired with stops at local restaurants ranging from hidden gems to upscale spots like Cotton, 22 Square, and Rhett. The guides really shine here. Christopher consistently earns praise for weaving Black history into his narratives and bringing the city's squares to life. Beck, Gail, Lisa, Joshua, and Bethany all get enthusiastic shout-outs for making the experience both entertaining and educational. People appreciate that guides recommend additional restaurants beyond the tour stops and share stories during the walks between tastings. The format works well for groups spanning different ages, and many reviewers mention it's perfect for getting oriented on your first day in the city. The food itself gets solid marks, with the shrimp and grits standing out as exceptional (one reviewer called it better than versions in New Orleans and Charleston). You'll try both conventional southern dishes and unexpected combinations like a pork belly donut sandwich. The tour includes five stops total, which leaves most people comfortably full by the end. There's a retail component at the finish where you can buy honey, peach jam, and sauces from the tour. One dissenting voice felt portions were too small and disliked the sales aspect, finding the condiment tasting inappropriate, but this appears to be an outlier experience. Wear comfortable walking shoes since you'll be covering ground between the squares, and definitely skip breakfast beforehand.
We had a blast! Gail and Meryl were fantastic! Loved the different foods to taste, especially the she crab soup and the sausage roll, unique and authentic! Would highly recommend this tour!!
