2.5 hrs
Guided walk, Green tea, Tea snacks
Explore Hawaii Island's agricultural and culinary side with a farm visit that brings tea growing and tasting together. Discover an approach to tea rooted in natural farming.
##Walk in the tea field We will walk through tea fields surrounded by native Ohia forest and various fruit trees. You can observe how tea plants grow and learn the basics of tea picking. You may also notice some wild orchids, seasonal flowers and fruits. Occasionally, farm animals come and greet you.
##Premium Tea Experience Some people describe the experience as one form of tea ceremony. It is based on Traditional Japanese style tea ceremony. It is guided, in a casual setting. Tea ceremony experience is not required, but you will learn a few simple steps to appreciate tea using your senses.
In this quiet experience we would like to emphasize the beauty of being present. You will learn to pay attention to the subtle details of aroma and flavor. Our intention is to share the experience of being on the farm, immersed in simple beauty of nature, away from the busy-ness of life. Please note that the farm is rustic. Walking paths are gravel, uneven, and sometimes steep. There are no wifi and cellular services. We wish for you to come away from the experience with a deeper appreciation for natural farming, green teas, and for your own senses.
