Ride the Charles River paths on a family-friendly Boston bike tour
2-2.5 Hours
Bike, helmet, guide
Pedal an easygoing route along the Charles River, designed for families and riders who want mostly bike paths. Cruise past Boston and Cambridge views with a guide leading the way.
Burley trailers and tandem bikes are not permitted. Children must be at least 12 months old; riders age 16 and under are required to wear a helmet (all guests wear a helmet). You can add upgrades like an electric bike or full-day rental extension for an extra charge.
Cancel penalty-free up to 48 hours after booking unless the event is within 14 days. More than 14 days prior: 50% refund. Within 14 days: non-refundable (may reschedule for $25 per ticket, based on availability). Full refund if Urban AdvenTours cancels the event.
Arrive 30 minutes before your tour start time for check-in, paperwork, and bike fitting. If you arrive late, you won’t be able to catch up to the group and you won’t be refunded or rescheduled.
Wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing and sneakers or other closed-toe shoes with good tread. Avoid skirts or dress clothes, high heels or dress shoes, large purses, and loose clothing that could get caught in the bike chain.
Bring a water bottle (free refills are available at the shop), plus sunscreen and sunglasses in warm weather. You can also bring an optional snack or sports drink. Leave large bags, luggage, and bulky jackets at the shop.

Urban AdvenTours delivers exactly what Boston visitors want: an engaging way to see the city while getting exercise and local insight. The guided bike tours consistently earn praise for knowledgeable, safety-conscious guides like Costa, Jonathan, Austin, and Charles who share both historical facts and personal stories at strategic stops throughout the city. Reviewers love how much ground they cover in 2-3 hours, hitting major sights while discovering details they'd miss on foot. The quality bikes come with baskets for your stuff, and the shop happily stores larger items like backpacks and luggage. Beyond tours, they offer bike rentals and same-day repair services that customers describe as reasonably priced and helpful. You'll want to be a confident cyclist since the routes navigate busy Boston streets with frequent stops and starts. One troubling review raises concerns about discriminatory treatment toward customers of color, which stands in stark contrast to the otherwise overwhelmingly positive feedback about friendly, accommodating staff. Most visitors call this their favorite Boston activity and the best way to get oriented in the city, with bonus points for the free photos guides share after tours.
I am very pleased with Urban Adventours after my rental. They gave me a really nice road bike to use in exploring the city and the routes they have on the website says a lot about how serious they are at what they do. The staff was also very nice and made my experience such a memorable one. 100 STARS!!!
