This sailing school and marina operation has clearly won over the local boating community with its exceptionally friendly staff and hassle-free rental process. Reviewers consistently praise how boats are fully rigged and ready to go upon arrival, making it easy to get out on the Potomac quickly. The team gets mentioned by name frequently—Alex, Joey, Peter, and Ethan all receive specific shoutouts for being helpful, professional, and genuinely enthusiastic about getting people on the water. The location itself is a real bonus, with paddlers raving about the peaceful marsh area teeming with birds, including nesting bald eagles right near the marina. The sailing instruction earns particular praise, with students appreciating small class sizes and the bonus practice passes that come with lessons, showing the team's genuine commitment to skill development. Flying Scot and Sunfish rentals dominate the positive feedback, with long-time customers returning year after year. One reviewer did note the kayaks show considerable age and wear, though they still function adequately. The protected cove setting makes this an ideal spot for both beginners building confidence and experienced sailors looking for a relaxing afternoon on the water.
I booked a private lesson with Belle Haven Marina, and it was a fun, safe and memorable experience! Highly recommend! I have some experience sailing but my skills were rusty and I have never been out on a Flying Scot or sailed in the area. I was so glad to have Ethan helping me out and sharing his knowledge with me, especially when the wind picked up! I will definitely sail with them again. Thanks!
