Brewery Gulch earned its name from the breweries that once lined its canyon walls during Bisbee's copper-mining peak in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. At its height the street reportedly held more saloons per capita than almost anywhere in the Arizona Territory, serving miners who poured in after long shifts underground.

Walking the gulch today, you pass two- and three-story brick buildings that have survived more than a century of boom, bust, and reinvention. Some storefronts still carry the pressed-tin ceilings and heavy wooden bars of the original era. The street's narrow canyon setting gives it an intimate, almost theatrical quality that wider main streets simply cannot replicate.

The bar and music scene remains the gulch's beating heart. Small venues host blues, folk, and rock on most nights, drawing a crowd that mixes longtime locals with travelers drawn by Bisbee's growing reputation as an arts destination.
