Dobbins Landing takes its name from Daniel Dobbins, the Erie sea captain commissioned during the War of 1812 to oversee construction of the American fleet that would go on to defeat the British at the Battle of Lake Erie in 1813. That naval legacy still shapes the character of this waterfront, where historic markers and interpretive signage connect the present-day promenade to one of the most consequential freshwater battles in American history.

Today the landing serves as Erie's primary public waterfront hub, anchored by the Bicentennial Tower and a broad pedestrian walkway that stretches along the bayfront. Visitors stroll past marinas, watch charter vessels head out onto Lake Erie, and linger at overlooks where the horizon stretches unbroken to the north. The nearby Wolverine Park Marina, just a short walk away, adds to the nautical atmosphere that defines this stretch of shore.
