More ambitious hikers tackle the South Bubble directly from the pond, a short but steep climb rewarded with sweeping views.

The Jordan Pond House anchors the southern end of the pond and has served refreshments to visitors for well over a century. Its popovers, served warm with butter and strawberry jam on an outdoor lawn facing the water, have become one of the most recognized traditions on Mount Desert Island. The restaurant also offers lunch and dinner menus drawing on local seafood.
