Captain Gordie and his first mate Rip (yes, the dog is part of the crew and apparently beloved) run a tight offshore operation out of Naples that consistently delivers. Grouper, snapper, amberjack, cobia, the catches here tend to be real and plentiful. Gordie gets regular praise for being patient and attentive with beginners while still keeping experienced anglers engaged, and the boat itself is described as clean, well-equipped, and professionally run. Fish cleaning is included, which is a nice touch after a long day on the water. One thing worth knowing: this is primarily an offshore charter. One reviewer had a frustrating experience when weather pushed them inshore, noting that Gordie seemed less confident in that environment. If conditions look rough on your trip date and going offshore isn't an option, it may be worth a conversation before heading out. For anyone with an offshore trip planned though, the track record here is genuinely impressive, with many guests booking return trips season after season.
Best fishing trip I’ve ever been on. Capt Gordy went above and beyond to get us on fish. He asked me what I wanted to catch at the beginning of the trip, I told him, and we literally went and caught everything I had hoped on catching. He was extremely patient with my girlfriend who is not much of a fisherwoman but he did everything in his power to get her hooked up on a big grouper and she caught 3 massive red grouper. We even got into a surprise school of Mahi Mahi and ended up catching 15 which is rare for the Gulf. If we showed up to a spot and weren’t catching fish in 5-10 minutes, we moved to the next spot. I just can’t emphasize enough how hard he worked to put us on fish. The boat is extremely clean and comfortable and handles the offshore ocean really well. We will 100% be booking with Lucky Strike Fishing Charter again and if you don’t fish with capt Gordy, you’re truly missing out. One of the best fishing experiences of my life
