Maui Pacific Tours invites you to experience Maui’s turquoise world the way Hawaiians have for generations—gliding across it in a hand-carved outrigger canoe. Small groups mean every seat feels like the front row as expert waterme...
The outrigger canoe and snorkeling tours earn consistent praise for their knowledgeable, personable guides who really make the experience. Names like Jacob, Dorian, Levi, and Tristian come up repeatedly, with reviewers highlighting how guides help nervous snorkelers feel comfortable, point out marine life like turtles and octopus, and even capture photos to share afterward. The setup is refreshingly low-key, with tours often launching right from Wailea hotel beaches, and several guests mention being the only ones on their tour, creating an intimate experience compared to larger operations. The outrigger itself gets special mention for putting you closer to the water than typical boats. You'll paddle out (reviewers say it's easy), then spend around 30-40 minutes snorkeling among turtles and reef fish while your guide stays in the canoe. Most tours see plenty of turtles, though ocean conditions can occasionally limit snorkel time or visibility. A few guests felt the snorkel portion was shorter than expected or wished for more guided interaction in the water, but the overwhelming majority describe their tour as a vacation highlight worth booking.
LOVED this experience. We did a 2-hour paddle for whale watching, and we were so lucky with humpback whales and green sea turtles popping up right next to us. Even without the awesome wildlife, it was fun to be on the water with our great guide Jacob and seeing Maui from a new angle. If we're back in the Wailea area ever again, we will do multiple of these. My one regret is that I didn't bring my camera!
