For more than six decades, Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina has welcomed travelers to a laid-back slice of coastal California. Tucked along Newport’s serene Back Bay, the resort pairs beach-town ease with thoughtful amenit...
This waterfront resort draws visitors with its beautiful bay setting and impressive array of amenities. Guests love the beachside bar where you can enjoy breakfast with your feet in the sand, plus there's a heated pool, water sports rentals, a well-stocked market, and popular inflatable waterpark that keeps kids entertained for hours. The bathrooms stay clean, staff members are friendly and helpful, and the overall vibe works well for RV camping and glamping trips with friends and family. The location does come with some trade-offs worth considering. Being near John Wayne Airport means early morning airplane noise that bothers light sleepers, even with earplugs. Several reviewers mention crowding issues, from tight RV sites to kids on electric bikes speeding through the grounds without much supervision. Some also note security struggles with managing unruly behavior during evening events. Cabin maintenance appears inconsistent based on recent feedback. If you're flexible about noise and crowds and traveling during peak times, the waterfront access and amenities still make it an appealing option for families looking for an active beach getaway.
The dunes have come a long way, but this smoke buildup around the BBQ pit is just unacceptable. The people at the bar are just dining it it, inhaling it. Poorly laid out and I’m sure they’re also not happy about the improper planning of their bar area relative to the restaurant.
