I had the privilege of participating in a tour of the town of Bayamón, guided by the exceptionally talented, knowledgeable, and well-mannered Mrs. Gloricel. Her passion for Puerto Rican history and culture made each stop on the tour fascinating and enriching. The tour included emblematic sites such as the Old Lodge of Grand Master Rosendo Matienzo Cintrón, where we learned about its historical significance and its influence on the social and intellectual development of Puerto Rico. We also visited the José Celso Barbosa House Museum, an inspiring experience that allowed us to learn more about the life and legacy of this illustrious Puerto Rican, recognized as the father of the statehood movement on the Island. Another highlight was the Francisco Oller Museum, where we were able to appreciate the importance of this great Puerto Rican artist and his contribution to national and international art. The guide explained every detail clearly, demonstrating a profound command of the subjects and answering all questions with kindness and patience. The visit to Bayamón's Plaza de Recreo was equally impressive. In addition to sharing information about the history and architecture of the plaza, the guide showed us the surprising diversity of birds that inhabit the area. It was especially interesting to watch her identify different species and explain the differences between birds that at first glance might seem very similar, highlighting characteristics such as plumage color, beak shape, flight patterns, and their particular behaviors. This combination of history, culture, and nature greatly enriched the experience. What stood out most throughout the tour was the guide's ability to convey knowledge in a clear, engaging, and interactive way. Her professionalism, courtesy, and enthusiasm ensured that each visitor felt involved and motivated to learn more about the history and heritage of Bayamón.
