Enjoy a full day on the river without difficult rapids
6 hrs
Explore the Delaware River by canoe or kayak on a paddle best suited to more experienced paddlers. The sustained paddling can be strenuous, especially if you're inexperienced. Spring and fall are the recommended seasons for this route, when the water is higher.
Join us for a beautiful one-day trip down the Delaware River from the Bushkill boat launch in Lehman Township, PA all the way to the Delaware Water Gap, PA. Take in the beautiful sites of the Pocono Mountains while you float down this scenic national recreation area.
Look for local wildlife as you paddle, like deer, bears, bald eagles, and much more. Your trip takes you past many points of interest along the river, including the Historic Shawnee Inn, a gorgeous riverside resort whose roots date back to the 1890s.
You can also see the remains of the Old Karamac Resort and train crossing as you float along toward the Delaware Water Gap. And you can’t miss the ‘jumping rock,’ located on the Pennsylvania side (righthand side) of the river.
Cancel without penalty at least 48 hours before your trip, or on the trip day due to severe weather at the trip location. Trips run rain or shine; ordinary rain does not qualify for penalty-free cancellation. Cancellations within 48 hours but before your trip time cost $25 per person. No-shows and cancellations after your trip time are charged full price.

After office check-in, drive yourself to Smithfield Beach for your river trip. You'll receive parking directions at check-in; road closures may change the parking location. The park entrance fee is $10 per vehicle per day, not included in the listed price. Bring a credit or debit card and exact cash: the staffed booth prefers cards, while an unstaffed booth requires exact cash.
Yes. The trip may close when temperatures are low and rain is forecast for most of the day because of hypothermia concerns. Many river sections are remote, which can delay help if you get wet and cannot dry off.
Dress in layers for fall paddling. Bring a towel and dry clothes, plus protective rain gear if rain is expected. Keep a way to dry off if you get wet. Dry bags are available to rent for storing your towel and clothes; rental costs are extra.
