6-Day Dive Guide Course in Ramrod Key

Take the first professional step toward leading certified divers in varied environments and conditions. Develop the confidence to evaluate sites, deliver briefings, and guide dives.

Itinerary

Day 1

• Upon completion of your academic materials prior to your arrival, we will start with a classroom academic review session that includes program orientation and HazMat training necessary for you to be able to fill scuba cylinders. After lunch we will continue with the classroom session and finish up with a pool session to complete a swim test and review of your in-water rescue skills.

Day 2

• We will start with a morning classroom session to cover preparing for a guided dive and after lunch we will conduct 2 open water training dives at Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary to conduct a snorkeling and rescue skills workshop.

Day 3

• Once again we will start the day with a classroom session to cover all the aspects of conducting a guided dive. After lunch we will return to the pool for a full open water skills workshop to ensure that you are ready to assist an instructor with an instructor as a certified assistant.

Day 4

• In the morning we will start with a classroom session to cover dive briefings and the unique challenges of leading deep and night dives. In the afternoon we will our first 2 open water training dives at Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary reef where we will conduct a dive guiding scenario.

Day 5

• Today we will start with 2 deep open water training dives fro our deep dive guide scenario. In the afternoon we conduct another classroom session followed by a night reef dive at Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary (subject to availability) for our night dive guide scenario.

Day 6

• In the morning we will start with a short review session followed by the final written exam (as applicable). The afternoon schedule is set aside for any make-up sessions or if none are needed a fun dive to the reef.

Important details

• Ages 15+ only
• Requires a recognized Open Water Diver certification or comparable certification
• Requires Deep Diving, Navigation, Night & Limited Visibility, and Diver Stress & Rescue certifications or comparable certifications
• Requires 50 logged dives, verified with your dive log at the start of the course
• Complete all assigned academic materials before the first day of the course
• A unique valid email address is required for each student
